For decades people have proclaimed that Seattle is over. One of the latest doomsday scenarios was in the 2019 KOMO TV ‘Seattle is Dying ‘ documentary. Back in 2002, the Los Angeles Times Magazine headline was ‘The Decline and Fall of Seattle’. The rap was Seattle was turning into Los Angeles, crippled by traffic and lack of mass transit, burdened by the tech biz bust, the loss of Boeing headquarters to Chicago, and suffering the effects of the Nisqually Earthquake. In this program, Kim Murphy, who wrote the article, says Seattle was a city under siege. We spoke to a Duck Boat (remember them) Captain and some of his riders visiting Seattle for the first time, David Brewster of the Seattle Weekly and Town Hall, and listeners defending and attacking the premise.
