Rossophonic 2021 Mix Tape

At Clark University in the early 70’s bonds were formed sitting around listening to new records. By the late 1970’s we had scattered but we began swapping mixtapes, first on cassette and later on CD. These days only one of us gets it together to make a CD, so we’re trying out music services. Here are my 2021 recommendations in Spotify and Apple Music formats. I hope one works for you.

While you're listening, I recommend reading a story on The Atlantic Is Old Music Killing New MusicAlbum notes:

LINER NOTES The Isley Brothers, Snoop Dog tune is my feel-good choice from last year.

I blow hot and cold on Dylan, but this one really stuck, lyrically and melodically.

A friend’s inclusion of a Pretty Things song on his 2021 mix reminded me of my PT exploration this past year. Unsung 60's psychedelic heroes.

The Neighborhoods were one of those blink-and-you-missed-'em 70's pop-punk bands from Boston. This one still kills.

If you haven't checked out the late one-eyed New Orleans pianist James Booker. He's deep in the tradition of Professor Longhair and Dr. John.
