Overton Berry Jazz pianist

Overton Berry (1936-2020) was a beloved Seattle jazz pianist and singer whose career began in the jazz scene on Jackson Street in the 1950s. He played at venues around the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962, his trio performed at the Doubletree Inn in the 1960s. He had a longstanding bi-monthly residency at Tula’s Jazz Club. A genial presence on stage, his warmth and enthusiasm shine through in this excerpt of an interview and performance in the KUOW studios in 2014. You can hear a longer version at KUOW.org.
