Investigative journalist Ted Conover, (born January 17, 1958) has been called the "master of experience-based narrative nonfiction". He became a prison guard at Sing Sing Prison for 11 months to write NewJack, the slang term for a new corrections officer. In this interview, he talks about what daily life is like for men and women who guard people classified as the most dangerous criminals.
