Lynn Shelton May 2012

In May 2012 Lynn Shelton (August 27, 1965 – May 16, 2020) was delighted that her new film Your Sister’s Sister was the first Seattle film to open the Seattle International Film Festival. On the eve of the premiere we spoke about her journey from a B.A. at the University of Washington Drama Department to directing; haunting movie theaters in Seattle’s U. District; making Hump Day (two straight men decide to make a gay porn film); her use of improvisation; how she created emotional safety on a movie set; and what it was like to direct an episode of Mad Men.
