MacArthur award winning poet Heather McHugh got her first poem published in the New Yorker as a teenager. She went on to study poetry at Harvard with Robert Lowell, teach poetry at the University of Washington, write 8 volumes of poetry and become a chancellor the American Academy of Poets.
