David Remnick “Lenin’s Tomb”

The death of Mikhail Gorbachev is a moment to reflect on the fall of the Soviet Union. It reminded me of this 1993 interview with David Remnick about Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Lenin’s Tomb: The Last Day of the Soviet Empire”. He talks about the role of Gorbachev and he describes the human toll of the communist regimes of Lenin and Stalin, revealed while Gorbachev was president from 1988 - 1991. It’s an era that today Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to revive. Remnick was a Moscow correspondent at the time of this writing a staff writer for the New Yorker.
