Anne Rice on Vampires and Porn

Novelist Anne Rice's (October 4, 1941 – December 11, 2021) best-selling books include ‘Vampire Chronicles’, ‘Interview with Vampire’, ‘The Witching Hour’. In this 1991 interview she explains how writing about vampires is a way to talk about life, how the feverish delirium of characters comes from her life, how her home New Orleans was used as a set in the movie ‘The Awakening’, and her frustrations with getting her books to the big screen. This was recorded before ‘Interview with A Vampire’ (Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt) was made in 1994. Rice also discusses the erotic fiction she wrote in the early 80’s under the pseudonyms Anne Rampling and A. N. Roquelaure and why she calls it pornography.
