Russell Banks

Novelist and poet Russell Banks (born March 28, 1940) died last Saturday. When we spoke about his novel ‘Affliction’ on October 6, 1989, Banks spoke of the domestic abuse he suffered from and inflicted on others. He talked about the shame of the abused person.
